Newman Central Catholic is staffed by certified teachers holding degrees in their respective areas of instruction. Newman is fully accredited by the AdvancEd, the State of Illinois, and Diocese of Rockford.
Newman offers a college preparatory curriculum along with the opportunity for students to enroll in a vocational curriculum for juniors and seniors at Whiteside Area Career Center. We are also proud to offer Dual Enrollment with Sauk Valley Community College, and AP Honors classes. With an eight-block schedule, students have the opportunity to complete thirty-two (32) units of credit. Over 98% of our graduates continue their educational endeavors at two or four year colleges and universities such as: Notre Dame, DePaul, University of Illinois-Chicago, Harvard, Stanford, Purdue, Marquette, Creighton, Drake, Bradley, Northwestern, University of Illinois-Urbana and other prestigious schools. Our Newman graduation requirements have always exceeded state minimums. The curriculum is designed for student college and career readiness.
Over 95% of our students participate in one or more extra-curricular activities. Student enjoy activities such as: Musicals, Scholastic Bowl, Math Club, Key Club, Student Council, BLIND, Envirothon, National Honor Society, and Athletics.
