Welcome to Science Room 206
(Biology I and II, Forensics and Anatomy)
Mrs. Verdick
emverdick@newmancchs.org (BEST way to contact me!)
SUPPLIES NEEDED DAILY:
1. Three ring binder (1 or 1 ½ inch is good)
2. Textbook (and Lab book if in Forensics)
3. Paper or notebook
4. Writing utensil
5. Assignment notebook/Agenda
MY EXPECTATIONS:
1. Be on time for class. Don’t run in doorway at the last minute. Use the bathroom during passing periods or you will have to wait until class work time.
2. Remember safety rules that will be posted in the room during labs and work time.
3. Be kind to each other. Rude comments will not be allowed in class. Don’t have own private chats when someone else is sharing information in the class.
4. Be smart! Think for yourself. I know it’s the faster way to copy someone else’s work but it will not help you in the end on the tests or final exam, plus how do you know if they actually had the right answer, correct?
5. ONLY WATER BOTTLES OF PLAIN WATER WILL BE ALLOWED IN THIS ROOM! No flavored water, Gatorade, etc. It is rude to eat in front of others without bringing enough for everyone and FOOD is not allowed in the science room. IF it’s your birthday and would like to bring class treats, please see me first.
6. MY DOOR IS OPEN TO YOU! Remember that you can get help from me before school starting at 7:40 a.m. and that I remain at school until 3:15 or later some days. Take advantage of a.m. reviews on test days. Some classes will overlap test days so my attention will be directed toward Bio I first, then Bio II, and FS and Anatomy after that.
7. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR MAKEUP WORK! See the front bulletin board for your name on any papers I handed out. ALSO, you need to get notes that you may have missed. See me for the notes binder OR get notes from a friend. I will expect you to be able to take the next quiz the day you return to class if we have one planned. See Mrs. Verdick for work missed!
8. When in doubt, email me first (see above) or if you absolutely need to talk then you may call my cell at 815-440-7518 before 9:30 p.m. or after 6 a.m.
9. Extra Credit Opportunities: daily critical thinking questions from book, bonus questions on the daily quizzes, OR help with supplies. One time deal for supplies, please see me for the details.
10. Test corrections for partial credit will be offered IF student has the completed study guide handout AND all work is completed. Students will need to see me during homeroom or afterschool to correct missed questions. Class time will NOT be used.
