February 1, 2013, Newman Central Catholic High School celebrated the beginning of the month, we celebrated Catholic School’s Week with the annual Catholic School’s Mass, and we celebrated the second induction into the Academic Hall of Fame. What a wonderful day for Newman!
The Newman gymnasium was standing room only as over 1,000 people came together to celebrate our faith and our belief in Catholic Schools at the annual Catholic School’s Mass. Fr. Bruce Luedke, Pastor of Sacred Heart in Sterling, welcomed us and was the Celebrant of the Mass. Fr. Louie Tosto, pastor of St. Mary in Polo, shared with us during the Homily, that if we had a little bit of faith, as small as the mustard seed, we would all grow. He proceeded to impact us all as he passed out the little seeds to everyone in attendance. We were also blessed with the presence of Fr. Ken Wasilewski, who is a past inductee of the Academic Hall of Fame. The music was magical as we sang with the traditional song of “We Are One Body” along with our closing recessional of “Your Grace is Enough,” which lead us right into the next part of our celebrated day.
Newman Central Catholic High School proudly inducted five new candidates to the Academic Hall of Fame. Their biographies may be found on the Newman website www.newmancchs.org/2013 Academic Hall of Fame Inductees. Listening to the outstanding accomplishments of these two men and three women brought a smile to everyone’s face as we were awed with their accomplishments and proud that they are part of the Newman family.
