Academics

 

Newman Central Catholic High School announced December Student of the Month is Vanessa Sharp.  Vanessa is the daughter of Pamela Capp and Raymond Sharp of Sterling.  Vanessa is involved in many school activities including; Math Club, Scholastic Bowl, Kairos Leader, and DARE Leader.  She is an Illinois State Scholar, National Honor Society Member, and in the top 10% of her class.  Vanessa works as a CNA and volunteers at a veterinary clinic.  In her spare time she enjoys horseback riding, reading and having fun with her friends.  Vanessa plans on attending Colorado State University, majoring in animal science and then continuing her education at a veterinary school.

 

Matthew Oswalt has been selected as Newman Central Catholic High Schools November Student of the Month.  Matthew lives in Dixon with his parents; Tim and Mary Beth Oswalt.  Matt is involved in football, swimming, baseball and Scholastic Bowl at Newman.  He is a Kairos Leader and a member of the National Honor Society.  In his spare time he enjoys weight lifting, reading, listening to music and hanging with his friends.  He plans on attending North Central College and majoring in Education.  

 

Eric Ardis, senior at Newman Central Catholic High School, has been named October Student of the Month.  Eric is the son of Colby and Carol Ardis of Dixon.  He is involved in Key Club, Math Club, Scholastic Bowl, and Envirothan.  He is also a member of the boy’s tennis team.  He enjoys snow skiing and sailing.  Eric plans on attending Northern Illinois University majoring in electrical engineering and continuing his education to obtain a MBA.  

September Student of the Month - Dominic Baratta

Newman Central Catholic High School is pleased to announce the September Student of the Month.  Dominic Baratta of Dixon, IL, son of Lori and Tony Baratta, has been selected for this honor.  Dominic is involved in tennis (Captain), basketball, Math Club, National Honor Society and Key Club.  He is a Dale Carnegie graduate, and has received honors in Excellence in English II, Saint Michael’s College Book Award, Three-Rivers Academic All - Conference and has also received the Sterling Noon Rotary Club Excellence Award.  Dominic works/volunteers with Duck’s Unlimited, Math tutor and has detassled in the summer months.  Dominic enjoys playing sports, watching movies and hanging out with his friends.  He plans on attending either the University of Illinois or Iowa and majoring in electrical engineering.
